Pat Neill was born Ruth Alice Priddy on February 2, 1929. She grew up in Danbury along with four brothers and three sisters, the youngest of eight. She worked in Washington D.C. at the Pentagon for the Navy Department and then later moved back to Winston-Salem to work for Western Electric. She married Robert L. Neill (of Statesville) in New York City on November 22, 1953. They made their home in Charlotte and later moved to Lake Wylie. They moved to Greensboro in 1981 where Bob became manager of a new branch of Mead Paper. She lived the rest of her life in Greensboro. Pat was always very involved socially and immediately made a new circle of friends when she moved to Greensboro. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Symphony Guild and the Junior Woman’s Club.
She loved life and traveling. After her husband died, she was reacquainted with an old friend, Scott Hester, of Reidsville. They were wonderful companions and enjoyed traveling all over the world. She loved decorating and filled her home with beautiful antiques and treasures from her travels. Pat also loved shopping and beautiful clothes. She was a true Southern Belle in every sense of the word. She modeled for Montaldos in Charlotte and later modeled in Greensboro.
She is survived by her three children, Robin Penny, Ginger Kannon (Frank) and Lee Neill (Karen), seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at Fountain Manor Clubhouse (Greensboro) on Friday, March 4th from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Graveside service will be Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in Statesville at Oakwood Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Heartland for their love, care and devotion to Pat during her stay there. Donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
