

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407, with Rev. Dr. Jerry Harper, officiating. Entombment will immediately follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the funeral from 1:00 until 1:50 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born in Nash County on July 24, 1939, to the late Thomas Sater Clay and Josephine Talbot Clay, Ruth grew up in Rocky Mount, NC and received her bachelor’s degree from Wilson School of Nursing in Wilson, NC. She worked for many years in High Point as a Pediatric Registered Nurse. Ruth also worked as a substitute teacher for Millis Road Elementary School, Jamestown Junior High School and Ragsdale High School. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jamestown and was a Sunday School Teacher for years. Ruth was very athletic and loved swimming and playing tennis. She liked to travel and enjoyed collecting seashells, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. Ruth was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 64 years, William Richard “Bill” Pearson; daughter, Paula Pearson, of Galax, VA; son, William “Rich” Pearson, Jr., of Kill Devil Hills, NC; sister, Mary Sue Lee; brother, Thomas “Tommy” Sater Clay, Jr. (Lynda); and other extended family and friends.
