Ruth Duncan Phillips

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Mustian and Bobby Loving officiating. Interment will follow the service at Guilford Memorial Park. Family visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, from 6:00 pm – 8 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.

Ruth was born in Gaffney, South Carolina to the late Dexter and Nancy Scruggs Duncan. On May 12, 1947 she married Vernon E. Phillips, who preceded her in death on April 6, 2017.

Ruth was a member of Midway Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member. She worked as an upholsterer at Crestwood Furniture for twenty-three years and later retired from Preview Furniture. She loved going to the beach, cooking and camping.

She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Phillips; daughter, Judy Bishop; granddaughter Kim Phillips Stanford; sisters, Louise Hall, Rose Wyatt, Shirley McKinney; brothers, Woodrow Duncan, John Duncan, Bill Duncan, Frank Duncan, and Monroe Duncan. Ruth is survived by her sons, Ted Phillips and wife Kathy of Trinity, NC, Jeff Phillips of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Kevin and Brandon Phillips, Mark Cromer and wife Rebecca, Derrick and Amanda Phillips; sisters, Nellie Hart and Nancy Scruggs of South Carolina; brothers, Don Duncan and wife Jean of Trinity, NC, Dean Duncan and wife Kathy and Coleman Duncan of South Carolina; great grandchildren, Leanna Stanford, Mekayla and Tyler Phillips, Brian and Jordan Cromer; and great -great grandchildren, Chandler Cromer and Conner Stefanowicx.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midway Baptist Church, Jubilee Fund, P.O. Box 818, Jamestown, NC 27282 in memory of Ruth Duncan Phillips.
