

Ruth Marie White Witcher, 93, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on August 11,2026, Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. Mrs. Witcher will be laid to rest in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery following the funeral services, by the Rev. C.J. Stephens, officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones at the chapel prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 am.
Born on January 28, 1933, in Guilford County, NC to the late Henry Herman White and Clara Hankins White. She was a Birth Right Quaker and attended Deep River Friends Meeting. Later she joined Hickory Chapel Church and has been a member of the church for over 70 years.
Ruth was salutatorian of her class and graduated Jamestown High School in 1951.After Graduation she was married to her late husband Melvin R. Witcher in July of 1951.
She was employed by The Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, DC, later she worked at Continental Furniture Company until accepting the position of Secretary of Millis Road Elementary School. Mrs. Witcher later joined her husband Melvin R. Witcher to form Witcher’s Landscaping Service in 1970 and both operated it until they retired in 2013.
Ruth was married to her beloved husband Melvin for 73 years.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons Melvin R. Witcher, Jr. and his wife Joy, Douglas S. Witcher, Sr.; sister-in-law, Wanda Myatt and her husband Carl; brother in law, Dale Witcher and his significant other Diane Bilbery; grandchildren, Andy Witcher and his wife Erin, Holly Stephens and her husband Rev. C.J. Stephens, Spencer, Christian and Kinsley Witcher; and great-grandchildren, Abby and Noah Stephens and Sam, Charlotte and Henry Witcher.
