

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2011 at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home N. Elm Chapel. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Sallie was born on April 16, 1920 in Rhonda, NC to James and Mattie Lou Creed. In 1937 she met and married the love of her life, Barnie M. Stoneman. They made their home in Greensboro and were longtime residents of Greensboro where they raised their three children. Sallie was an active member for many years at Camp Herman Baptist Church. While she lived in Greensboro she was employed and retired from Cone Mills Revolution Plant. In 1982, after retirement, she and Barnie moved to Woodlawn, VA where they lived for thirteen years. During that time they made a beautiful life together and were active members of Skyview Baptist Church. In 1995, Sallie returned to Greensboro to live the remaining days with her family. She joined Sumner Baptist Church and was very active until she became a shut in. She loved her Lord and served Him for many years. She was a loving and wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved greatly and will be missed.
Sallie was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Barnie, their son, Michael, eight brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by one sister, Ruth Lankford of Georgia, son, Mitchell Stoneman of Greensboro, daughter, Robin Cansler and husband, Terry of the home. Sallie was also blessed with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Home of High Point, 1803 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
