Samuel Clyde Lemonds

A viewing and celebration of life will be held at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 1900 Vanstory Street, Greensboro, at 2 pm on Thursday, June 18.

Samuel was born in Greensboro on December 18, 1947, the son of late parents Newman Reid and Susan Trogdon Lemonds. Known to his friends as Sammy, he graduated from Smith High School in 1965 and attended High Point College for three years before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1968. He very proudly served his country as a reservist, attaining the rank of Sergeant, and was honorably discharged in 1974. He completed his degree at High Point College, obtaining his Bachelor of Arts in 1975. Samuel was an avid chef and spent his career in the hospitality and food service industry, which brought him to Baltimore, MD, Raleigh and back to Greensboro and included training at the Culinary Institute of America. He retired from Ferraro Foods in 2015. Samuel loved reading and history and thoroughly enjoyed the historical miniatures wargaming hobby, as a member of the Triangle Simulation Society. He became a devout Christian through the ministry of Saint John's Church.

Samuel was preceded in death by his parents and his second wife Melody DeMar Lemonds, who passed on October 27, 2016, and with whom he was married for 32 years. He is survived by his stepmother Inez Fields Woodard Lemonds of Greensboro, son from his first marriage Andrew "Andy" Lemonds, daughter-in-law Hillary and grandson Daniel, of Lake Jackson, TX.

The family wishes to thank the incredibly compassionate caregivers at Beacon Place hospice and the members of Saint John's Church.
