Samuel Charles Schlosser, 75, of Greensboro, passed away on August 15, 2022 after an extended illness. A service to celebrate his life will be at 3 PM, Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Summerfield Peace United Methodist Church followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall.
Sam, a native of Greensboro, is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Angeline Puglia Schlosser. As a student at Notre Dame High School he met Christine Seuberling and became life partners in 1971. He served in the US Air Force from 1968 to 1972 on the flight line which lead him to a successful thirty year career with Colonial Pipeline. In addition to his four years with the USAF he continued serving his country for 17 years in the Army National Guard.
His wonderful sense of humor endeared him to everyone. He was quick witted, lovingly sarcastic and enjoyed seeing others have a good time in his company. Sam shared a close relationship with his grandchildren and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a strong interest in US history and was a member of the Summerfield Historic Committee. As a member of Summerfield Peace UMC for more than 15 years (along with Chris) he was known as the “Chicken Man” and a constant presence at the Brunswick Stew Supper.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Christine, of the home; children, Jeffrey S. Schlosser and wife Teri of Lumberbridge, NC and Jennifer C. Bates of Summerfield, NC; grandchildren, Zack Henderson, Bella Schlosser, Ashton Bates and Gabby Schlosser; siblings, Marie Cooper and husband Norbert and twin brother, Andrew Schlosser and long-time companion, Patricia Brown; and a large extended family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to DAV, VA Regional office, Federal Bldg., 251 North Main St., Room 151, Winston Salem, NC 27101 or VFW of Summerfield of which Sam was commander for several years.
