Born on October 12, 1950, in Durham NC, Lynn was the oldest of five children born to Fred and Elaine Horton Barringer, both from Concord, NC. The Barringer family lived in various states in the USA, Japan, Thailand and Ireland during Colonel Barringer's Army career, defining Lynn’s love for travel and respect for other cultures.
Lynn graduated from the International School of Bangkok (ISB) in 1968. Her years in Thailand were formative, where she built lifelong friendships. She attended many of the ISB reunions over the years and looked forward to catching up with her former classmates.
She graduated with a BFA degree from East Carolina University in 1972. Lynn worked in Fayetteville, NC in interior design/sales for two years before moving to Washington, DC. She enjoyed a twenty-five plus years career in the insurance business, primarily with Mutual of New York.
In 2002, she moved back home to North Carolina and settled in Greensboro to be closer to family. She reconnected with her design roots and worked as a sales associate and gallery designer at Furnitureland South in 2003 until her retirement in 2015.
Our Lynnie Pie was a one-of-a-kind, force of nature. She was passionate in her beliefs, honest to her core and not afraid to give her opinion on everything. Her integrity came from her parents whom she cherished. Lynn believed in equality for all. She actively maintained relationships with friends from throughout her life. She had an impeccable design eye and shared her talent with so many. She loved her 60's music.
Lynn is survived by her four siblings and spouses, Fred A. Barringer, Jr. (Janet), Leslie Barringer Ellis (Rick), Thomas Horton Barringer (Susan), Philip David Barringer (Denise), eight nieces and nephews, seven great-nieces and great-nephews and her partner, Terry Mills.
Lynn was the leader of our pack. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
