

Sarah Whitescarver, 91, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, at Kerner Ridge Assisted Living & Memory Care. A native of High Point, she was the only child of Lester Ryan and Clayton Oakes Peacock and was an active member of First Methodist Church where she played both organ and piano. Sarah graduated from High Point College with a degree in Education. Her career included teaching 6th grade in multiple states, and later she became an owner of Whitescarver Hearing Aids in Gastonia, NC. The wife of a pastor, she was very active leading women’s Bible studies and prayer groups in her church as well as prison ministries, and Community Bible Study in Gastonia. She continued to encourage Bible study and prayer with her neighbors in Kerner Ridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar S. Whitescarver, and her grandson, Joshua Koehler. Survivors include children: Sarah Koehler, Grace Parsons(Tony), Susan Ingram(Jay), Amy Russell(Russ), and Oscar Slane Whitescarver, Jr.; grandchildren, Tiffany Clouse(Ed), Lindsey Allen(Evan), Rachel Koehler, Timothy "Slane" Parsons, Jennifer McDaniel(Ryan), Christina Price, Mark Parsons(Maria), Amy Garmer(Zac), Carolyn Wallace, Zachary Parsons, Jessica O' Dawe(Pat), Carmen Lavender(James), Meredith Russell, David Russell, Claire Whitescarver, Abigail Whitescarver, and Katherine Koehler; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Isaiah, Caleb, Michael, Benjamin, Aurora, Aeneas, Aubrey, Liam, Dylan, JoElle, Megan, Jazmyne, Lacey, Brandon, Ezra, Luca, Oscar, Amelia, Israel, Eilish, Emilia, Ezekiel, Langston, and Sarah-Ann "Sadie"; great great grandchild Walker Ellis Mills.
Funeral will be held at 11:00am on Monday, August 3, 2026, in the Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum, 6000 West Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro, North Carolina, NC 27407.
