Shirley Lou Williford Alley, 84, a resident of Browns Summit, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024. She was born December 30, 1939, in Guilford County, the daughter of Rossie Williford and Beulah Pruitt Williford.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Herbert Bennett Alley. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Rebecca Williford Price and brothers, Rossie Williford, Jr., and Jerry Williford.
After graduating from Greensboro High School in 1958, Shirley worked in personnel for Cone Hospital. She later worked at Western Electric until becoming a full-time homemaker. She was a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church where she served as treasurer for her Sunday school class for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa B. Alley of Browns Summit. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews to cherish her legacy.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Eller Memorial Baptist Church in Greensboro. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 12:30-1:45pm. Interment will follow in Westminster Gardens Cemetery.
Her daughter would like to thank all the family and friends who visited with her, as well as the healthcare workers at Hospice of the Piedmont for their outstanding care.
