Shirley Ann (Caudle) Riddle

Shirley Caudle Riddle, 87, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, with her daughter, Teresa; her granddaughter, Megan; and grandson, Andrew by her side. Shirley was a wonderful sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Born on May 1, 1937, at Blackwelder Hospital in Lenoir, NC, Shirley attended Gamewell High School and graduated in 1955. She married the late Roger Byrd and had two daughters. She worked in Insurance as an administrator for the next 40 years. In 1983, Shirley moved to Greensboro to be closer to her daughters. There, she joined Christ Covenant Church and met her late husband, Dave Riddle. Music was always an important part of her life. Her love for Southern gospel music was always prominent and was listened to in her home. Shirley had a soft and gentle spirit that people loved. Always a smile and sweet comment. She was a loving grandmother to 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. While she loved her children, her love of God was her main priority. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Teresa Byrd Shannon (husband Richard) of Greensboro, NC, and Sharon Byrd Tetterton (husband Michael) of Lexington, KY. Her cherished grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Andrew, Chris, Taylor, Jordan and Leslie, and her greatgrandchildren brought her so much happiness. A funeral service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 11:00 am.
