Shirley Mae Hall Sherrill

She was the daughter of the late Moir Franklin Hall and Annie Nora Cox Hall and was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Sherrill; sisters, Lucille Bullins, Mary “Goody” Mitchell, Earline Adkins, Nora Hodge, and Ruby “Lib” Thompson; and brothers, William “Nip” Hall, John “Totsie” Hall, Billy June Hall, and Monroe Hall. In addition to her family, she was also preceded in death by her pet bird, Rocky, that her and Robert loved dearly.

Shirley leaves behind to cherish her memory, nieces, Tammy Hopkins (Dale), Shirley Leann Skeen (Tony), and Donna Watts (Donnie); nephew, Jeffery Hodge; brother-in-law, Thurman “Ty” Thompson; stepchildren, David Sherrill, Robert Eugene Sherrill Jr., and Ada Louise Logan; and several more nieces and nephews.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Thurman Thompson will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407, with interment following at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Shirley was employed with Hatteras Yachts for over 20 years, where she met her husband, Robert. They were together for over 40 years. Shirley was a longtime member of Whispering Hope Baptist Church in High Point. As a woman of strong faith, she loved the Lord and constantly praised Him for the blessings in her life.

She will be remembered for her fun, spunky, and sassy personality. Even in her time in the nursing home, she would dance, have a good time, and bring joy to others. Over the years, she enjoyed camping and trips to the beach with family. She was always caring for everyone; whether it be her siblings, nieces and nephews, or other family members, there was not a doubt that she would be there in a time of need. Shirley was the best wife, aunt, sister, and friend, and she will be missed immensely.
