

Stephanie Leslie Scott of Greensboro, NC died peacefully the afternoon of February 20, 2025. Born in Morganton, NC on November 3, 1938, she was the eldest daughter of William Augustus Leslie, Jr. and Charlotte Bergeron Leslie. She attended Morganton schools and graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh with degrees in history and economics. While still at Meredith, she married the love of her life, John Guerard Scott of Graham, NC. They had a long and happy marriage of 63 years until his death in 2022.
She was a lifelong Episcopalian and former member of Grace Episcopal Church in Morganton, where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greensboro where she served on the Alter Guild for a number of years. She also served on the board of the Episcopal Church Women, including two years as president.
Stephanie had a wide range of interests and hobbies, including genealogy. She wrote a book, "A Family History," documenting her family’s lineage back centuries. She loved all her activities, but dearest to her were her beloved bridge groups and her lunch and supper groups at Well-Spring.
She was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in the State of North Carolina, a sustaining member of the Junior League of Greensboro and former board member. She served on community boards including the Preservation Society, Greensboro Opera Company, and the North Carolina Museum of History Associates, serving as Guilford County chairman and on the State board. She was also a member of The Assembly, the Wednesday Literary Club, the Greensboro Cotillion, and the Lazy Daisy and the Junior Dogwood Garden Clubs.
Surviving Stephanie are her daughter Leslie Scott Alexander and her husband Charles McNeill Alexander (Chuck) of Greensboro; son John Guerard Scott, Jr. (J.) and his wife Meredith Brooks Scott; and four grandchildren, Charles McNeill Alexander, Jr., Charlotte Avery Alexander, John Guerard Scott III (Jack), and Grace McKesson Scott. She is also survived by her brother William Augustus Leslie III and wife Cindy of Cary, NC; and sister Miriam Leslie Green and husband Barry of Ashland, Virginia; and her dear sister-in-law Ann Patterson Scott, and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Wednesday, March 12 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. The family invites you to join them for a reception at Well-Spring following the service.
