

in Greensboro, North Carolina at the age of 63. Steve was born on March 27th, 1962, in Greensboro where he was well-known, well-loved and deeply respected by everyone who
knew him.
Steve is survived by his loving mother, Katherine Simmons; his daughters, Stephanie Simmons and Michelle Simmons; his brother, Clifton Simmons (Laura Simmons); his cherished granddaughter, Selena Shepherd; his adored grandsons, Cainan Steed and Carsen Steed; his niece, Traci Simmons; his nephew, Quentin Simmons; and his long-time companion, Michelle Samsel. He was preceded in death by his father, Doyle C. Simmons.
Steve was a highly skilled and talented motorcycle mechanic and owned and operated a well-known and beloved motorcycle shop near downtown Greensboro for over 30 years. His dedication to his work, his customers, and his community made him a trusted and admired presence in the city he called home. Steve was known not only for his talent, but for his honesty, generosity, and dedication to helping others. His work touched countless lives in the community, – not through just motorcycles, but through the relationships he built.
In his younger years, Steve was passionate about racing motocross, which led to a successful career in racing Nitro Harley Davidsons. Racing was more than a hobby- it was his passion. He achieved many milestones in the racing world and remained closely connected to the racing community throughout his life.
When he wasn’t in the shop or on the racetrack, Steve loved nothing more than coming home and spending time with his family. He was a passionate fan of football and NASCAR and cherished the quiet moments at home with those he loved most. Steve’s greatest pride in life was his family. He loved his daughters and grandchildren fiercely, and everything he did was rooted in that love. He was a protector and provider whose strength was quiet, his loyalty unwavering, and his love unconditional. To describe Steve is to speak of integrity, generosity, and heart. He was a great man – caring, giving, helpful, and deeply honest. He lived his life in the service of others, always putting his family and friends first. Steve’s presence, kindness, and strength will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will forever live in our hearts.
Steve’s celebration of life will be held at the Greensboro Shriners Club, 5010 High Point Road, Greensboro, North Carolina, 27407, on August 8th, 2025 at 5:00pm.
