

Sue White LaVasque, 76, a longtime resident of the Sedgefield Community passed away on Sunday October 12, 2014 at Moses H. Cone Hospital. Sue was born December 19, 1937 in Stokesdale, the daughter of Glenn Thomas and Mary Louise Tuttle White.
Even as a child Sue was always outgoing and friendly. She spoke to everyone and always had a smile on her face. She was a graduate of Stokesdale High School. She was recruited by the FBI out of high school and worked with them for a brief period of time. Sue later worked as a finance manager for Oakwood Homes.
An avid sports fan, Sue played basketball and softball in high school. She was an avid tennis player throughout her adult life and also enjoyed golf and yoga as well. Sue was a longtime member of the Sedgefield Womans Club. She also did volunteer work with Mobile Meals for over 30 years as well as volunteered at the Gateway Education Center and Adams Farm Living and Rehab. She also sponsored several children in Central America and donated regularly to various charities. Sue always saw the best in everyone and was an eternal optimist. She was a strong, independent woman with a huge heart.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James E. LaVasque; daughter, Kathy Green Phifer; brother, Johnny White and her “Beloved Dogs”, Little Bear and Snoopy.
Sue is survived by Randy Davis her loving companion for 18 years of High Point; daughter, Mari Anne Green and her father Bobby Green and his fiance' Sue all of Greensboro; grandchildren, Travis Bell and wife Beth of Durham, Steven Bell and wife Carrie of Memphis, Dustin Bell and wife Kristin of Greensboro, Maggie Bell McDonald and husband Mackey of Raleigh, Jacob Green of Greensboro; great grandchildren, Richard Banks Bell and Gavin Lee Bell; Sister, Glenola Bryant and husband Carlton; aunt, Shirley Rollins; nephew, Doug Bryant and wife Belinda and cousin Jerry Rollins.
A Celebration of Life Service for Sue will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Jamestown United Methodist Church conducted by Reverend Jim Watford. Interment will follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
