Susan Denise Caviness Carr passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and dedication. She is survived by her loving son, Aaron Carr; her daughter, Katherine Carr; and her brother, Tony Caviness. Also surviving are her many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and close friends.
Susan spent many years crafting beautiful mats and frames for fine art and also worked in freelance advertising alongside her late husband, Ronald Carr. She was also known for her deep love of music, ranging from artists like Dionne Warwick, Genesis, Tom Petty, and Dolly Parton to classical compositions, and she cherished sharing concerts with her children, even taking them to see heavier bands like Slayer and Dillinger Escape Plan during their teenage years. A proud graduate of UNCG, she later returned to her studies to earn her bachelor's degree.
Susan is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald Carr; her parents, Floyd and Mary Caviness; her sister, Linda Brady; and her brother, Gary Caviness.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 29 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 607 North Greene Street, Greensboro. Visitation to follow on the Terrace at the church.
