Susan graduated from Lakeland High School and continued her education at Polk Community College and the University of South Florida. After moving to Greensboro, she completed her studies at the University of North Carolina, graduating in 1988, an achievement that reflected her determination and enduring commitment to learning and growth.
An active spirit, Susan played softball and found joy in rock climbing and hiking. She especially loved the National Parks and visited many, with a particular fondness for those in the Western United States, where wide horizons and enduring landscapes matched her appreciation for the natural world.
Susan worked at Burlington Industries, JP Stevens, and Ciba-Geigy, bringing reliability to her professional life.
In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, Walter Riddle and Gladys Waters Riddle and William A Riddle and Alma Gampert Grimm; uncles, James McCauley and Walter M. Riddle; aunts, Mitzi Taylor Riddle and Mildred Wark; half-aunt, Linda Grimm Mills; and her stepfather, Harold C. Williams.
She is survived by her sister, Melinda A. Riddle; aunt, Billie Ann Grimm McCauley; cousins, James McCauley (Trudy), Becky McCauley Brouwer (Curt), Philip McCauley (Bernadine Rolnicki), David McCauley (Lompai), as well as numerous 1st and 2nd cousins. Also surviving is her very special friend Vicky Pyatt (Roger).
A visitation to celebrate Susan’s life will be held from 5–7 p.m. Thursday, September 24, at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street, Greensboro. Inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 29 at Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland FL.
