Thomas “Thom” Gill, 69, a resident of High Point and a former resident of Greensboro passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020 at Moses H. Cone Health Care. He was born July 19, 1951 to the late Bobby Lee and Evelyn Rae Gill.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Debby Shore Gill, son Jason Gill(Katy); grandchildren Wes, Owen, Evie and Syler Gill all of Ohio; sisters Brenda Bullin(Ken) and Debbie Gill Brackins; brother Johnny Gill (Debbie); and many special nieces and nephews.

As his son so sweetly said, “we have accepted that Dad is in a better place. A man who appreciated the outdoors and all of it’s beauty, displayed artistic creativity in all he did and a passion for music that touched the soul. Mom and I encourage you to get outdoors often, use your creative abilities to the fullest and to sing, pick, and dance regardless of how it may sound. We will miss him greatly”.

Following his retirement Thom became a member of the staff of Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home as a part time associate.

Thom was a member of Christ Way Church and in lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Christ Way Church 4401 Sumner Church Road, Greensboro, NC 27406 or to Hospice of the Piedmont 1801 Westchester Drive High Point.

A Celebration of Life service for Thom will be held October 10, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Way Church 4401 Sumner Church Rd., Greensboro, NC 27406 conducted by Pastor Keith Kannenberg. The family will receive friends following the service.

Tommy will never be forgotten! He was a brother n law to me but really more like a father! I watched and learned so much from him through the years. I was always amazed by is patience and artistic abilities. He was a Godly man. He loved his wife , my sister, beyond measure. He was a blessing to our family for so many years. He could make you laugh even in times of trouble. He brought peace to anyone that was ever around him. I love you bundles Thom and you will always be in my heart. Love, Mell ❤️

I will miss a dear classmate and a wonderful friend. He had the most beautiful voice. Every time he sang at church it brought tears to my eyes. Heaven received an angel. Prayers for Debby, Jason and the family

I had the honor of meeting Thom when we both volunteered at Hospice Home of High Point and I can truly say I've never known a kinder, more Godly person in my life. Heaven is a little brighter, but our world is that much dimmer, without him here. He will be truly missed.

When I think of a Godly servant, I think of Thom. What a sweet sweet spirit and an encourager to all be met. He played and sang at my wedding—in the garden of Hospice of the Piedmont. What a blessing!!!! I worked at HOP on the weekends when he would come play and sing. The building could be in crisis—-but after one song—God’s spirit filled every nook and cranny and peace was there. Yes he is in a far better place but he left a big hole here. Godspeed my friend. Godspeed.
