Born to Robert Thompson and Gladys Hamlin, she graduated from Ben L. Smith high school. She attended ECPI University and was a bus driver and safety assistant for the Guilford County School System for 14 years. She then began her journey in ministry and established Body of Christ International Outreach where she taught the Holy Scriptures for 18 years. She was active in the church and in the community by heading the outreach of semi-annual clothing giveaways and the distribution of community care packages.
She is survived by her daughters, Tia’re Thompson, Sherrie Thompson, and Tonya “Renee” (Antonio) Hooks. Mother/Grandmother to Trea Thompson, Micah (Emone) Thompson, Timontre Thompson, Litani Thompson, Kaliyah Magras, Jordan Thompson, Eladia Thompson, Noah Hooks, Isaiah Thompson, Amber Thompson, and Eli Hooks. Great-grandmother to Samira Thompson, Gabriel Thompson, Ahmad Thompson, Alaya Thompson, and Ezekiel Angel and sister to Reza (Willette) Thompson and Jimmy (Debra) Slade.
A graveside service will be held at Westminster Gardens Cemetery on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 1 pm. The family will receive visitors at the Thompson home from 2 – 4 pm.
