Velma F. Dowell

Funeral services will be held October 3, 2011, at Faith Freewill Baptist Church, with Pastor Vic Redding officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.

Velma Frances was born in Reidsville, NC to the late Patterson and Alice Blackwell Ferris. She worked at Blue Bell as a seamstress and in her later years at K&W Cafeteria. She was a member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxilliary.

Mrs. Dowell was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Cornelius (David) Dowell; brother, Curtis Ferris; sister-in-law Maxine Ferris.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children Jennie Annette Rice and Gloria Jean Dowell both of Greensboro, Jeffrey Wayne Dowell of Climax and Clifton Dowell and wife Lisa of Asheboro; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Marcus, Kevin, Kenny, Cody, Kayla, and Danielle; five great grandchildren, Elijah, Jeremiah, Brittany, Skye and Kori; nephew Lee Ferris; niece Donna and husband David Daniels.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Sunday, October 2, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel.
