Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints, Psalm 116:15. Verdora Callahan Webster Sams was welcomed by her Savior on January 27, 2024. Her life will be celebrated on February 3, 2024 at 12:30 PM at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel with Reverend Gray Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.
Verdora was born in Robeson County, NC, the youngest of fifteen children to William Henry and Rittie Dial Callahan. She was employed on the production line of Lorillard Tobacco for more than thirty years. Her first love was the Lord and she actively worshipped for over sixty one years at Presbyterian Church of the Cross as a deacon, choir member and member of the women’s group. She was a true vessel of the Lord, Jesus Christ. She was a loving mother and amazing grandmother who required respect and obedience and through her honest words and actions her lessons were instilled. Verdora loved anything that bloomed in her yard and garden and refused that any unrecognizable plant be cut as it might become a flower.
She is survived by her three daughters, Linda Susan Webster (Fred) Weaver of Kernersville, Robin Elizabeth Webster of Mocksville and Cynthia Ann Webster of Whitsett; seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by two precious sons, Alfred Eugene Webster, Jr., and Brian Keith Webster and her fourteen siblings.
