Vernon Carlie Puckett, 70, passed away on Saturday, June 22nd surrounded by his loving family. Vernon was born in Kimball, WVA on July 2, 1948, the son of Leonard Carlie and Mary Lou Hughes Puckett. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict. He worked with North State Packaging for 17 years. Vernon was an avid collector of Coca Cola memorabilia. He was a member of the Coca Cola Collectors Club of Atlanta, GA and the Tarheel Chapter of Coca Cola Collector’s Club.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Michelle Puckett. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia; siblings, Barbara P. McAdams of Greensboro, NC and Wanda P. Bell of Durham, NC; sister-in-law, Mattie Robbins; nieces, Tanya Chase, Kristal R. Tickle,. Danielle Jarnigan, and Marilee Cugino; nephews, Joseph Greco, Joseph Reid, Marcus Raab, Jason Robbins, Aaron Robbins; great nephew, Dylan Greco and various great nieces and great nephews; and lifetime friends, Johnny Hensley and Marsha Lipscomb.
Services to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, 2:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial with full military honors to follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
