Visitation with the family will be from 6 until 8 pm on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Hanes- Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 North Elm Street, Greensboro, NC. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on Friday, November 16, 2018 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2715 Horsepen Creek Road, Greensboro, NC. Entombment will follow at 1:00 pm at Westminster Gardens Cemetery, 3601 Whitehurst Road, Greensboro, NC.
Victoria was born in Shamokin, PA December 22, 1922 to Louise and Anthony Grabowski. She graduated from Coal Township High School in 1940.
Victoria worked in the PA Insurance Department in Harrisburg, PA from 1940 to June 29, 1946 when she married Frank T Gearhart. She then worked as the Secretary for the Deputy Insurance Commissioner in Philadelphia, PA from July 1946 thru June 1954.
She lived in Philadelphia, PA and Springfield Delaware, PA until August 15, 1959 when she moved to Greensboro, NC upon a transfer by Frank’s employer.
In Greensboro Victoria worked for the Treasury Department, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms until retiring in 1987. She was one of the founding members of a Garden Club in Guilford County and a founding member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
Victoria was a wonderful cook. Especially known for her homemade bread. Upon walking into her home, you would be greeted and welcomed by the warm culinary smells. She was an artistic woman. Best known for her crafts, painting and humming a tune while cooking or spinning her artistry. She always put her family first. Her loving and giving nature has been known by many. She was also known for her savvy shopping skills and her fashion sense, she was never going to look like a little old lady.
Victoria was preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Louise Grabowski, her brother Anthony Gray and her husband of 62 years, Frank T Gearhart.
Victoria is survived by her son Frank T. Gearhart Jr. (Toby) and granddaughter Abigail, her daughter Maria Gearhart Erwin and husband David L. Erwin and granddaughter Alexandra (Ally), sister Eleanor Grawbowski O’Brian of Coal Township, PA and Mary Grawbowski Kuchinski of Augusta, GA. Nephews, Mark, Mathew, Anthony, Wayne and nieces Lisa, Lenor, Kimberly and Ann Marie.
Special thanks go to the staff of Beacon Place in Greensboro NC, the aides, nurses and in-home care team. Also, to the special in-home care provided through Griswald Home Health by Eva, Alice, Josepha and Eva.
Donations may be made to the Building Fund of St. Paul the Apostil Catholic Church, 2715 Horsepen Creek Road, Greensboro, NC, 27410 or an organization of your choice in Victoria’s name. She had a special desire to help children facing life threatening diseases.
