She was born April 21, 1929 in High Point, the daughter of Marvin Reid and Florence Carroll Floyd who both preceded her in death. Violet was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ada Frazier and Lois Marie Yates and a granddaughter, Lauren Brooke Andrews.
She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Trinity, NC.
Violet was married to Ed (Penn) Lindy Sexton, Jr. who preceded her in death on September 9, 2002.
Surviving are six children, Linda Gail Massingill and husband David of Harrison, TN; Jerry Sexton and wife Susan of Myrtle Beach, SC; Aubrey Lee Sexton and wife Carolyn of Whiteville; Teresa Andrews of Trinity; Tammy Smith and husband Kenneth of Trinity; and Christopher Sexton of Whiteville; seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Harold Shives. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
Following the funeral services the family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall at Fairview United Methodist Church in Trinity.
