Two weeks after enjoying a rollicking good time at her birthday bash, Virginia "Jenny" Brickhouse Boyette, 97, died peacefully in her sleep at the Whitestone Masonic and Eastern Star Home on September 25, 2026.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 7 at the Whitestone Masonic and Eastern Star Chapel at 700 South Holden Rd. in Greensboro. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 open casket. Following from 12:00-1 pm, Chaplain Misty McAden will officiate the closed casket service and the Interment which will be held at the Whitestone Masonic and Eastern Star cemetery.
Jenny was the second of three children born to Alethia and Albert Brickhouse in Pasquotank County. Both sisters, Mildred Berry and Shirley Sanders are deceased.
Jenny acquired her nursing degree from the Carolina General School of Nursing in Wilson, North Carolina where she met and married her husband, Harvey Boyette, her life long sweetheart. Thereafter they moved to Greensboro where Jenny secured a job at Bell South, formerly known as Western Electric, as an Occupational Health Nurse and retired after 28 years of service. Jenny and Harvey enjoyed the friendships they made in their Sunday School class at West Market United Methodist Church and their membership in the Eastern Star Chapter #14 Greensboro.
She is survived by her two daughters Diane McKnight and husband Donnie of Climax, NC and Candace Boyette and husband Don Badger of Raleigh, NC. Her grandchildren include Dylan, Donovan and Devon McKnight: Rowan and Amanda Badger. Great granddaughters include cousins Delany, Ellis, and Kendrick McKnight.
