

Virginia Dare Noe Hunnicutt, known to some as “Pete”, was 84 years old. She was born on February 18, 1929 and passed away peacefully on July 26, 2013 at her home in Greensboro, NC. Virginia was reared in Morristown, Tennessee, and lived in North Carolina, Virginia, and Florida for many years.
Virginia is survived by her husband Jack: her children, Anne Adare Wood, Adelia Wood , Melody Wood and her husband Ryland Hord, Jeane Kalanta and her husband Jamie, and Tim Wood and his wife Kathy. She is also survived by her step-sons, Michael Hunnicutt and his wife Janet; Younce Hunnicutt and his wife Laura Beth; Donald Hunnicutt and his wife Jan; and David Hunnicutt, her caretaker for several years. Her only surviving brother Erb Noe and his wife Linda live in White Pine, Tennessee. Virginia loved her twenty grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her beloved French poodle Watson survives her as well.
Virginia was a warm-hearted, loving, friendly woman with many friends. For some years she sold real estate in Florida. She was best known for her creativity and craftsmanship. She loved sewing draperies and clothes for her children, knitting, caning chairs, refinishing furniture, and painting beautiful pictures. Virginia was an accomplished artist whose oil paintings are displayed in many homes and churches, including her home church, Lawndale Baptist. Virginia loved life and was always on-the-go & full of energy, whether gardening, cooking, taking a walk on the beach, exercising at the health club or playing golf. Two of her favorite phrases were, “Lets ‘G’ ‘O’! and “Idle hands are the Devil’s workshop.” She also travelled extensively across the US and Europe.
Visitation will be held with the family at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home at 515 N. Elm Street in Greensboro form 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday. The funeral service will be held at Lawndale Baptist Church, 3505 Lawndale Drive at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013 with the Reverend Dr. Joe Giaritelli officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, at the corner of Wharton and Smith Street.
