Virginia Lassiter Royal

Virginia Lassiter Royal, 93, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Hospice Home in High Point. Virginia was born on February 21, 1923 in High Point, one of nine children of Irving M. and Vivian Carter Lassiter. She was first and foremost a loving wife, mother and homemaker. During the WW II war era, she replaced men in the factories that were called to serve. She was involved in a variety of educational capacities and she briefly worked with Western Electric (A T & T). Virginia was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greensboro for over 50 years.

She modeled and gave her family unconditional love. She always had a special sparkle in her eyes and her laughter uplifted all those around her. Among her many gifts was hospitality. She was the first to show up with a chocolate pie, pound cake or banana pudding and her potato salad was legendary. She was known to all of her family for her “Nana Magic”, which made all things better. She was known for her sharp mind, clever wit, and ability to tell a good story. Virginia lived her life by the words of Philippians 4:13. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She will be deeply missed.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, James Grayson Royal in 2005; brothers: Mac Lassiter and Carter Lassister. Those left to treasure her memory are her children: Jim G. Royal and wife Betty and daughter, Jill Royal Newman; four grandchildren: Lisa McLennan (Braxton), Thomas Royal (Christy), Carolina Watkins and Natalie Watkins; five great grandchildren; brother, Chase Lassiter; sisters: Martha Meredith, Nora Mangum, Irvine Hyatt, Patricia Sowers and Nancy Simpson and special friends: Pat Chandler, Cindi Delisi and Ruth Diegel.

A graveside service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at Guilford Memorial Park with Dr. Stephen Pressley officiating.
