

Walter Clinton Jackson, III, 82, passed away June 9 at Beacon Place. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, June 13 at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, North Elm Street, with Pastor Jay Hilbinger officiating. The family will visit with friends at Hanes-Lineberry following the service and welcomes visitors at either or both events.
Clint was born in Greensboro on November 15, 1930 to his parents W.C. Jackson, Jr. and Helen Clapp Jackson.
He graduated from Guilford College in 1953. After serving for two years in the U.S. Army, he returned to Greensboro and became head of the Clinton Press until his retirement in 2007. He was a well-respected leader in the print industry for many years, and was proud that his company continues under the leadership of his son.
Clint was an avid boater, both sail and power, and a member of the Greensboro Power Squadron and the Coast Guard Auxiliary Swansboro, where he taught courses including navigation. He received numerous awards for his service . He also participated in Co-Op charting and other projects with his beloved boat, Blueline III, and assisted with Homeland Security water patrols. He was also an enthusiastic member of the Rockingham County Gun Club.
Clint leaves a rich legacy of a life well-lived, including his love for the coast, authentic model ship-building, good and faithful dogs, and the strength and importance of family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jacqueline Johnson Jackson, his daughters Elizabeth Pamplin and Julia Leigh Frazier, and his son Walter Clinton Jackson, IV, and his wife Terri Blackwood Jackson. Also surviving are grandchildren Wesley Pamplin, Walter Pamplin, Connor Jackson, Julianne Jackson, Katherine Obermeyer and Elizabeth Obermeyer; brother Robert Jackson and his wife Lynn.
