Born November 4, 1930, Mr. Pennington was the son of the late John Otis and Maggie Pennington of Alamance County. He retired from Boilermakers Local Lodge 30 and for over 50 years, was a Master Mason of Revolution Lodge 552 and was a Shriner. As a proud veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Pennington was enlisted for three years, serving on the USS Weiss and USS Strong. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church for over 50 years and enjoyed working in his yard and mowing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, April and five siblings.
Surviving are his wife of over 65 years, Shirley Pennington of the home; four children, Debbie Landreth (Mike), Vicky Cheek (Dale), Marty Pennington (Hazel), and Brian Pennington (Melissa); one brother; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. A private family burial will be held at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
