

Greensboro- Mr. Walter Clayton Reid, 72, passed away October 30, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be at 2 PM, Monday, November 3, at Lakeview Memorial Park with Reverend Mike Jones officiating.
Walt was born in Stokesdale to the late Bud and Mamie Reid. He was a dedicated employee of Chandler (formerly Central) Concrete for approximately 30 years until he retired due to health reasons. He and his wife of thirty five years Sue McDaniel Reid have been faithful members of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for fifteen years. Walt will be remembered as a considerate, kind and selfless man who loved his family and spending time with his granddaughter. He had beautiful blue eyes and a soft spoken demeanor and his daughter will remember his sense of humor and strong sense of providing for his family. He enjoyed trips to the beach, taking care of his cars and was a voracious reader. He was a wonderful husband, father and PawPaw.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Sue Reid of the home; daughter Amy and husband David Breedlove of Liberty; granddaughter Grace Souther; sister-in-law Ann and husband Walter Messer of Greensboro; mother-in-law, Ruby McDaniel of Greensboro; and several nieces and nephews and of those, Butch Reid with whom he shared a special bond. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by six siblings.
