

Waymon H. “Buddy” Autry, 74 of Greensboro, went home to be with his Lord April 24, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Alley Autry, two sons Kevin Gene Autry, and Waymon H. “Wayne” Autry, Jr. and wife Vicki, one daughter Verona C. Snuggs and husband Chuck. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Kevin Gene Autry, Jr. and wife Katie, Gabriel Autry, Geena Autry, Emma Jewel Autry, Chandler Snuggs, and Kayla Snuggs. He is preceded in death by his father George Autry and mother Mannie Autry of Roseboro, NC, and a sister, Joyce Callicutt Dorsett. His surviving sisters are Janie Canady and husband Elbert of Clinton, NC, Treva Johnson of Roseboro, NC, and Betty Carter and husband Larry of Clinton, NC.
“Buddy” had a successful career in banking for over forty years. He was Vice President of First Union Bank, currently known as Wells Fargo Bank. In 1991, he incorporated Omega Mortgage Corporation. He owned and operated Omega until 2006.
He attended Shannon Hills Chapel in Greensboro where he served as treasurer for several years and loved the Christians there. He favored the work of Mountain Top Youth Camp (MTYC) in Pinnacle, NC. He served on various boards and committees in the banking industry, his community, and his children’s schools. His greatest enjoyment in life was fishing at the coast with his sister Betty and brother-in-law Larry.
Visitation will begin at 2:30pm and a funeral service will follow at 3:30pm Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Shannon Hills Chapel located at 900 W. Vandalia Road, Greensboro, NC 27406. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Shannon Hills Chapel specified for MTYC in Pinnacle, NC.
