Willie was born in Louisville, KY in 1934 to Gladys Idella Scott and Charles Franklin Schaftlein and attended Male High School. Due to his knowledge and proficiency in his field, Willie was recognized with a variety of automotive awards. His optimistic character, can-do attitude and attentiveness to others made Willie a great friend to many. He consumed sports of all types with gusto, was a lifelong Louisville Cardinal fan, and coached the 1955 Toy Bowl champions, Most Blessed Sacrament football team. Willie’s faith and care for his community was central to his life. Willie was a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as a Kentucky Colonel. Above all he was a devoted spouse, father, and grandfather who loved his family.
