William “Bill” Presser Klinge, 88, a resident of Greensboro passed away at his home on Tuesday May 18, 2021 after a period of declining health. He was born in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Charles Fredrick and Sarah Presser Klinge. Bill was also preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy K. Backy, Mildred K. Martinson, Ruth K. Steed, Nancy K. Degeare, Edith K. Kattenbraker and his brother, Carl Klinge.
He worked at Burlington Industries for 25 years where he was a supervisor. After Burlington closed, Bill became a self-employed painter. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. Bill was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Sue Mitchell Klinge of the home; two daughters; Debra K. Perkins and husband Danny of Greensboro, Kathy Lynn K. Elkins and husband Kennith of Greensboro; five grandchildren, Kenneth “Kenny” Perkins, Melodie Perkins, Benjamin Perkins, Kimberly Elkins Dunn, Joshua Elkins and four great grandchildren, Cierra Anast, Stephen Prater, Jeremiah Prater and Katy Lyn Dunn.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m.at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Dr. Howard R. McNeill, Jr. Interment with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until service time.
