William “Bill” Oliver, 86, a resident of High Point passed away on Wednesday October 27, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born in Robeson County on December 27, 1934, the son of John Frank and Oreatha Lewis Oliver.
Bill married the love of his life, Edith Lambert in 1953, and they moved to the High Point area to find work. He worked at Marsh Cabinets, and then at Union Camp/Highland Containers in Jamestown where he was employed for over 40 years. Bill and Edith were members of Bales Memorial Wesleyan Church for more than 50 years where they both loved serving their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Bill was a true family man that loved his God, his wife and his family, who all loved him very much. He also loved to be outdoors, especially when it was sunny, he just couldn’t stay inside.
He was married to Edith Lambert Oliver for more than 65 years, and promised her that he would take care of her all the days of her life, which he did, as she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his twin sister Lillian.
William is survived by his children, Billie Davidson and her husband Robert of Greensboro, Tommy Oliver and his wife Denise of High Point; Debora Hudson and her husband Chris of High Point; sisters, Opal of SC, Mary Grace of Raleigh, Alice of Hillsboro, Sally of Gibsonville, Doris of Raleigh; grandchildren, Kevin Phillips, Brandon Phillips, Robert Davidson, III, Sydney Harris and her husband Chase, Davis Hudson, Jason Oliver, Jami Rogers and her husband Reverend Kevin Rogers, Justin Oliver and great grandchildren, Tyler Phillips, Mekayla Phillips, Chloe Rogers, Jake Rogers, Owen Rogers, Autumn Rogers, Eliana Rogers, William Oliver Rogers, Marlowe Harris and Asa Harris; Great-Great Granddaughter, Lola Ann.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 1st from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel with a graveside service to follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
