William (Billy) Joseph Schlosser, Jr. age 69 died on March 16 at Maryfield Nursing Home in Jamestown, NC. He was the oldest child of Rachel Wyrick Schlosser and William Joseph Schlosser, Sr. He was born June 9, 1943 in a military hospital at Fort Benning, Georgia where his father was an instructor at the Infantry School. The birth was difficult, resulting in him incurring cerebral palsy.
Due to the love and devotion of his parents, Billy lived a near-normal life. He had a kind heart and greeted everyone with an infectious smile. He particularly enjoyed bowling, bingo and horseback riding. In his youthful years, he regularly participated in The Special Olympics.
During the later years of his life, Billy resided at Maryfield Nursing Home where the Sisters of the Poor from Ireland and their staff provided the same nurturing care that Billy had been accustomed. The family is very grateful for this.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, David Schlosser. He is survived by brothers, Michael Schlosser and wife, Rebecca, and James E. Schlosser and wife, Sharon, all of Greensboro, NC. Also, a sister, Linda Tasker of Tampa, Florida. Nephews, Drew Schlosser and wife, Angelique, of Weston, CT; James Murray and William Murray and wife, Cindy, all of Tampa, Florida; Anna Preston Schlosser and Caroline Schlosser both from Greensboro and Julia Tasker of Los Angeles, California.
