William was born on September 10, 1922 in Guilford County, the son of William A. and Rosa Hemphill Kanly. He worked his entire career as an electrician for more than 40 years in the Greensboro area. William was an avid NC State and Duke fan and always enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves.
William was preceded in death by his wife Clara in 2014. He is survived by his two sons, Walter Kanoy and wife Sandra of Greensboro, NC and Ray Kanoy and wife Sherry of Raleigh, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, 3:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial to follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
