William Donald “Donnie” Wagoner, 76, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Tuesday April 7, 2020 at Beacon Place in Greensboro. He was born January 1, 1944 in Guilford County, the son of Walter Gladstone and Eva Frances Lewis Wagoner.
Donnie worked for the Serta Mattress Co. for a period of time and later worked in automobile sales ending as a salesman with Gate City Lincoln-Mercury for 20 years. He was a member of the last graduating class of Monticello High School in 1962. He attended St. Johns United Methodist Church. Donnie’s happy place was the golf course and he enjoyed singing and was a member of a quartet for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lorraine Wagoner.
Surviving are his loving wife, Janice Mills Wagoner of the home; daughter, Amy Lunsford of Greensboro; sons, Daniel Wagoner, James Wagoner both of Greensboro; grandchildren, Shane, Ryan, Ella, Madeline, Lily Grace; special nephew, Michael Hopkins and his wife Tami of Huntington Beach, CA; brother-in-laws, Michael Mills and wife Linda of Summerfield, Ronnie Mills of Wilson; 1st cousin, David Wagoner and wife Teresa of Brown Summit and caretaker and special friend, Norma Webb of Greensboro.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday April 28th at Westminster Garden Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
