Willie Robert Phillips was born on November 17, 1921 in Guilford County, North Carolina, the son of Oscar and Lunette Phillips. Willie departed his life on earth on April 21, 2024 to join his beloved wife of 77 years in their heavenly home.
Willie, 102 years young, passed away peacefully after a few years of declining health. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie, a son, Barry and Tammy, his first granddaughter. Willie is survived by his son Randy and wife Fran, daughter-in-law, Gloria, 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Willie was a Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, now the United States Air Force, during World War II. He retired from Morflex/Pfizer Chemical Companies after 45 years of employment.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on April 25, 2024 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. The family will receive friends and loved ones one hour prior to service, from 1:00 until 2:00 pm. Willie will be laid to rest immediately following the funeral services, next to his wife in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. A reception will follow the committal in the funeral home's reception hall.
