Mr. Z D Jernigan

Greensboro- Mr. Z D Jernigan, died on December 10, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services will be at 1 PM, Friday, December 13, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel with Pastor Charles Whickham officiating. Interment will be at Westminster Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 12:30 PM prior to the service.

Z D was born in Johnston County to the late Zero and Nancy McLamb Jernigan. He was employed at Dunning Industries for nineteen years and also worked at George C. Brown and Wire Products. He was a long time member of Florida Street Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a hardworking man who loved his family more than anything else. He was a devoted husband, father, PawPaw, and brother. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and in his spare time could be found either casting a line or spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Sue Holland Jernigan of the home; children and their spouses, Danny and Kimberly Beavers Jernigan of Climax, and Jennifer Shadrick of Greensboro; grandchildren and their spouses, David and Jennifer Shadrick, Jr., Danny and Kelli Jernigan, II, Leanne Jernigan, and Kristin Shadrick; great grandchildren, Rebecca, Zachary and Annabeth Shadrick; sisters, Clyda Oakley and Frances Hall both of Benson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Z D was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Justine Jernigan, son-in-law, David Michael Shadrick, eight siblings, and several in-laws.

The family extends their sincere appreciation to Mr. Roger Stanfield and Mr. Turner Ipock for their care, attention, support, and friendship during this difficult time.
