Bertha Lou Powers Dean

Bertha Lou Powers Dean, 75, of Greensburg passed away October 22, 2014. Bertha was born March 18, 1939 in Greensburg; she was the daughter of John and Marjorie Giddings Powers. She was raised in Rodney and attended Sandcreek Schools. Bertha married Donald Dean on May 14, 1955 in New Point. They had three children a daughter Connie (Robert) Cathey of Westport, a son Roland Dean whom preceded her in death, a son Frank (Peg) Dean of Westport.

Bertha was employed at Garrett Garmet Carol Cook until it closed, Randall Co. for one year and then KB Specialty Foods which she retired from. Bertha loved and enjoyed her grandchildren most of all. She also loved her job at KB. Sewing, Cooking, and yard work were just some of her favorite things to do.

Also surviving with her husband and two children are her grandchildren Melissa (Scottie) Huff, Brenda (Scott) Christy, Kimberly (Robert) Hall, Michael (Laura) Cathey, Shelby Dean, Donnie Dean, Tracy Ruble, Bobby Best, JD Best, and 27 great grandchildren all loved very much by her. She is survived by a sister Ruth Moore of Greensburg, Sister In Law Peggy Redding, Brother In Law Gerald “Butch” Dean, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Roland, Parents John and Marjorie, Brothers Russell Powers, Omer Powers, Lester Powers, Father and Mother In Law Franklin and Lillian Dean, and Sister In Law Delores Dean.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Gilliland Howe Funeral Home from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral at 1:00 pm Rev. Mark Vice will be officiating.
