
Bill W. Zinn, 88 of Greensburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Bill was born September 30, 1923 in Roseville, Ohio, the son of Fred and Elsie Zinn. At the age of three, Bill was adopted by Rufus & Lesta Kellam.
After high school, Bill joined the Marines and became a decorated war hero, earning a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was a member of the F-Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Division, serving in the WWII South Pacific Arena. Bill was the last living member of his platoon.
On September 27, 1945, Bill married JoAnn Jamison in Noblesville. Bill had a Bachelors of Science Degree and worked as a Senior Sales Rep. for Novartis Pharmaceutical. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and watching sports on TV.
Bill is survived by his wife JoAnn, Daughters: Jerri (Ronald) Stout & Melinda (Robert) Thomas, Sons: Michael (Darlene) Zinn, Scott (Megan) Zinn and Nathan Zinn. He is survived by Brothers: Fred & Joe Zinn, 16 Grandchildren and 29 Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by both sets of parents and his brothers Jim & Victor Zinn.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 13 at the Gilliland – Howe Funeral Home for 5PM-8PM. A Funeral Service will be on Saturday, April 14 at the funeral home at 10:30AM. Make memorial contributions to the Clarksburg Christian Church or the Gideon’s.
