

Connie Jean McCracken, age 84, of Greensburg went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2026, at her home surrounded by family. She was born, January 11, 1941, in Greensburg, Indiana the daughter of Ethel Campbell. Connie was raised by her grandparents Walter and Icey (Lockridge) Campbell of Adams, IN after the death of her mother. Connie was a 1959 graduate of St. Paul High School. On July 3, 1959, Connie married Ronald McCracken and they were happily married for 52 years. Her work career included BCA, radio personality in the 60's and 70's at WTRE, Greensburg Daily News, Rust Wholesale, North Decatur Elementary, Executive Sales Representative for Jackson Office Equipment and Realtor. During her and her husband’s retirement they volunteered their services to New Directions of Decatur County and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for abused and neglected children. She and her husband loved to travel and were blessed to see all 50 States, South America, Canada, Mexico, Hawaii and Panama Canal. Her last major trip was with her daughter Bonnie to Israel to tour the Holy Land. She loved the Lord, her family and her special dog Icey. She was a member of the Golden Rule Sunday Class, former Sunday School teacher at First Christian Church and former President of Adams Hebron Cemetery Association.
Survivors include: Son - Donald (Gena) McCracken, Daughter Bonnie (Rick) Fischer, Son - John (Deanna) McCracken, Grandchildren - Jordan Fischer, Cory (Sara) Fischer, Halle (Jacob) Ison, Justin (Kristina) Smith McCracken, Alex (Parker) Coleman, Megan (Chase) Stephenson and Morgan McCracken. Connie was proud to be Great-Grandmother (Gigi) to Willa and Remi Fischer and Lennon Stephenson. She was preceded in death by her mother, grandparents and her husband Ronald.
Per Connie's wishes, she will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 at the at First Christian Church at 11:00 am. Rev. Ray Sweet will be officiating.
