Elizabeth Susie Fay Phillips

Elizabeth “Susie” Phillips, 78 of Greensburg, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Susie was born on September 3, 1935 in Adams the daughter of Bud and Winifred Phillips.

Susie worked in the kitchen at the Fireside Inn for many years. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, and spending time with her family especially cooking for them. She was member of the First Christian Church of Greensburg.

She is survived by Bill (Sandy) Pratt, whom she raised, of Greensburg, one sister Carolyn “Maggie” Phillips of Greensburg, two brothers Jim (Mary) Phillips of Knoxville, TN and Charles (Shirley) Phillips of Brown County, IN, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers – Frank, Winfred, Robert, and Lawrence Phillips, and five sisters – Margaret Huegel, Vernie Day, Lenner Phillips, Mary Marie Phillips, and Betty Phillips.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 13 from 9AM until the time of the funeral service 11AM all at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Wolford officiating. Burial will follow at the Union Chapel Cemetery near St. Paul. Memorial contributions may be made to the Relay for Life or the Hickory Creek Nursing Home.
