

Harry worked for 15 years for Wald Mfg. Co. in Maysville, KY before moving to Greensburg where he worked 28 years as supervisor with Delta Faucet Company in both Greensburg and Chickasha, OK. He was a member of the Waynesburg Christian Church and was actively involved there for many years. One of his favorite involvements there were activities and traveling with the Forever Young group. He was a member of the Redeemed Quartet, a bluegrass gospel group, for 10 years. Harry enjoyed traveling and being with family and friends.
He was survived by his wife of 38 years, Phyllis (Boicourt) Prater, and two children from a previous marriage, Dwight (Luann) Prater of Mocksville, NC, and Connie (David) Weber of Greensburg. He had 4 grandchildren, Kim (Paul) Eckstein of Apex, NC, and Christie (Jeff) Trowbridge of Brownsburg, IN, Dana (Nate) Boyd of Junction City, KS, and Darren Weber of Rapid City, SD. He had 5 great-grandchildren, Aaron Eckstein, Sarah Eckstein, Elijah Trowbridge, Madeline Trowbridge, and Grace Boyd. He had 3 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren. Harry is also survived by 2 brothers, Russell (Evelyn) Prater of Cincinnati, OH, and Bill (Della) Prater of Foxport, KY, one sister, Helen (Harold) Lykins of Maysville, KY, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Willis, Robert and Douglas, and sisters Opal Sloop and Mary Mineer.
Funeral services will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg, IN on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 11:00 am, with Jerran Jackson and David Burnett officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the South Park Cemetery in Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Premier Hospice through the funeral home.
