

James L. Sefton, 78, of Greensburg, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Jim was born on June 29, 1936, in Greensburg, the son of Loren and Georgia (Power) Sefton. Jim was a 1955 graduate of the Sandusky High School. On January 5, 1958, Jim married Joyce Lee at the Sandusky Methodist Church and she survives.
Other survivors include: Three Daughters – Brenda (David) Bauer, Marilyn (David) Scott, and Sheryl (Dyar) Soendlin all of Greensburg; One Son – Mike (Kay) Sefton of Greensburg; One Sister – Ann (Kaywin) Sefton-Lindsay; 10 Grandchildren – Lauren (Aaron) Huber, Krista Bauer, Mitch (Courtney), Brad (Savannah), and Alex Sefton, Emily and Nicole Scott, and Drew, Logan and Claire Soendlin; and four Great Grandchildren.
Jim was a farmer, seed sales representative and a sports fanatic. He loved watching his Pittsburg Pirates, local sports teams, Indianapolis Colts and the Indy 500; of course his favorite athletes were his grandchildren. Jim instilled the love of travel in his family through the many family vacations over the years. Jim was a member of the First Christian Church where he served as a trustee, the Decatur County Rural Couples, a Charter member of the Greensburg Optimist Club, a past member of the Knights of Pythias, Pork Producers, coach and board member for the Greensburg Youth Baseball and Softball Leagues and a Deacon at the First Baptist Church.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 3PM – 7PM at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Jim’s Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 9 also at the funeral home with Pastor Danny Wolford officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church or to the donor’s choice.
