John W. Blackledge

John W. Blackledge, 93, of Greensburg, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at the Heritage House Nursing Home. John was born on November 11, 1921 in Johnson County, the son of Fred and Pauline (Bogan) Blackledge. John served his country in the US Army during WWII. On October 25, 1955, he married Marilee Cleland in Letts, she preceded him in death on December 2, 2011.

John worked for over 24 years at Delta Faucet until his retirement in 1994 at the age of 72.

Survivors include his daughter Susan (Gordon) Burgess of Greensburg; his son Ronnie (Cheryl) Blackledge of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; two brothers - Eugene and George Blackledge; one sister Louise Bozell; five grandchildren – Hillary (Shilo) Shrader, Stephanie Burgess, Jenni (Paul) Jumes, Valerie (Mark) Lorenz and Chris (Erica) Blackledge; and eight great grandchildren – Madeline, Adrien and Liam Shrader, Preston and Teagan Lorenz, Meghan and Erin Jumes and Darby Blackledge. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister Elsie Blackledge and two brothers – Harry and Fred Blackledge.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015, from 4PM – 8PM at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 11AM on Friday, November 11 also at the funeral home with Shannon Burford officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
