John Thomas Carroll

John Thomas Carroll, 76 of Greensburg, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. Tom was born on April 21, 1942 in Greensburg, the son of John and Louise (Beggs) Carroll. He graduated from Clarksburg high school and then furthered his education at Franklin College and Purdue University. On August 9, 1964 he married Karen Waybright and she survives. Other survivors include his two sons – Joe (Mary) Carroll of Rush County and Chris Carroll of Aiken, South Carolina; one sister Mary Beth Bell; his brother Robert Carroll; and four grandchildren – Tyce, Jacob, Madeline and Lily Carroll. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Martha Artmeier. Tom was a lifelong farmer in Decatur County and also drove a school bus for North Decatur for 18 years. He was on the Decatur County Council for 23 years, a past Superintendent of Beef for the Decatur County Fair Board, a member of the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Department and was a Mason. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, watching Reds baseball, college basketball and any hunting shows. A private service will be held for the family at the Kingston Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at the Kingston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Department.
