Leon S. McCammon

Leon S. McCammon, 90, of Greensburg, IN. passed away Friday April 5, 2013 at Aspen Place Greensburg. He was born March 15, 1923 in Letts, IN., the son of John C. and Carrie (Parker) McCammon. He was a 1940 graduate of Letts High School and attended the University of Alabama and Indiana University. He served in the U. S. Army from 1943 until 1946 in which he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the United Methodist Church Greensburg, and the American Legion and VFW. He was a Financial Officer for 38 years before retiring. He married Martha (Foster) McCammon on September 21, 1947 in Letts, IN. and they celebrated 65 years of marriage this past September. She survives at the home.

Other survivors include one Daughter: Susan (Jeff Krueger) McCammon of Red Wing, MN.; one Son: Mark McCammon of South Bend, IN.; one Sister: Joan (Fred) Domrow of Fort Wayne, IN. Two Grandchildren also survive: Nickolas and Spencer McCammon. He is also survived by several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one Granddaughter: Holly McCammon, 3 Brothers: Milo, Harold, and Neal McCammon; and one Sister: Doris Waymire, and one Nephew: Greg Domrow.

Friends may call at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Sunday April 7, 2013 from 1:00 to 3:00pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday April 8, 2013 at 11:00am at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home.
