Michael Herman Wagner

Mike was born on July 27, 1956, in Batesville, Indiana, the son of Herman and Agnes (Schoettmer) Wagner. He was a 1974 graduate of Greensburg High School and later attended Ivy Tech Community College.

Throughout his career, Mike worked for the Greensburg Cable TV, Mang’s Vault and Greensburg Vault Works for more than 30 years, and KB Foods. He was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, and the Knights of St. John.

Mike loved spending time at the men’s diamond, playing softball alongside some of Decatur County’s finest athletes. Whether on the field or in the dugout, he enjoyed sharing a good laugh and the camaraderie that came with the game. In later years, he found great joy in watching his nieces and nephews compete on the field and court. While Mike often said he would have loved to have children of his own, he considered himself blessed to have his nieces and nephews in his life. He was always proud of their accomplishments and never missed an opportunity to brag about them.

Mike is survived by his brother, Dennis Wagner; sisters, Susan (Alan) Geis and Lisa (Brian) Huff; nieces and nephews, Jared (Samantha Gaston) Wagner, Tiffany Wiley, Brad (Erin) Wiley, Jeffrey (Aleigh) Rose, Chasity Rose, Laura (Ryan) Walsman, Jamie (Zach) Hilton, and Dustin (McKayli) Huff; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Agnes Wagner, and his sister-in-law, Darlene Wagner.

Mike will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A rosary for family and friends will be prayed at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 9:30 am followed by a visitation until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Father John Meyer will be officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Kidney Fund or to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
