Timothy Joseph Bausback

Timothy Joseph Bausback, 61, of Greensburg, Indiana, passed away at his home on September 14th, 2026, leaving behind a town that will be noticeably—considerably—quieter without him.

Calling Tim a “people person” doesn’t quite cover it. Tim never met a stranger, mostly because he refused to let anyone remain one. Even if they wanted to. He was loud, friendly, endlessly social, and always armed with a story. Whether you met him at The Beach, the Eagles, out in the fields, or somewhere he had simply decided he belonged, Tim had a way of making you feel like you’d known him much longer than you actually had.

In Greensburg, Tim was something of a local celebrity—not because he ever needed a title, but because everyone simply knew him. Years spent working at The Beach gave him an audience, though anyone who knew him knows Tim was perfectly capable of finding one wherever he went. He loved talking to people, making people laugh, and turning new faces into old friends.

It also helped that Tim was impossible to miss. A massive man with an even bigger personality, Tim did not possess what most people would consider an “inside voice”. You could hear him across a crowded room long before you could see him, usually telling some crazy childhood story, laughing, or striking up a conversation with someone he’d just met. And if you were that someone, there’s a good chance you wouldn’t be a stranger by the time the conversation ended.

Tim was a faithful Purdue fan and happiest working outside in the fields during harvest season. There was something about those long days in the fields and the season itself that spoke to his soul. He worked hard, loved being outdoors under the sky, and was never afraid of getting his hands dirty. But more than any team, job, or past time, Tim loved people. His favorite places were where his people are.

And Tim always showed up for his people.

If there was a party, Tim was there—likely inserting himself in the planning. A graduation? Tim was there. Someone needed help? Tim was there. If something mattered to someone he loved, it mattered to him, too. His circle of friends was enormous because Tim loved generously and without much concern for whether you were technically related to him. To Tim, friends became family pretty quickly.

His actual family, though, held an especially large piece of his heart. He deeply loved his mother, his brothers and sister, and absolutely adored his nieces and nephews. Being loved by Tim meant knowing you had someone fiercely defending your corner—probably loudly, definitely enthusiastically, and without hesitation when you needed him.

There are people whose absence leaves an empty chair. Tim’s leaves something much bigger.

He took up space in the best possible way. Tim was a big man with a booming voice and an even bigger heart, and when he walked into a room, you knew it. Now, his absence will be felt just as strongly.

It will be felt during harvest, in the fields he loved. It will be felt at The Beach. On quiet nights outside. At parties and get togethers and ordinary gatherings where someone will inevitably think, Tim should be here.

And it will live in the countless people around Greensburg who can say, “Oh, I knew Tim.”

Of course they did.

Tim made sure of it.

Survived by: Linda Bausback (mother); his siblings Jeff (Wendi) Bausback, Kris (Robert) Price, and Toby (Kara) Bausback; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Whitney Osborn, Cheyenne Price, Cody Bausback, Keragen (Max) Bausback-Beckley, Curtis Bausback, and Camden Bausback

Preceded in death by his father, Larry Bausback; his grandparents, Paul and Dulcie Ryle; his brother, Ricky Bausback; and his niece, Riley Ann Price

Visitation will be held at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on September 21, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at 1:30 pm. Burial will take place at Union Baptist Cemetery.
